Opened in 1991 in San Francisco, Photos
Gallery was dedicated to promoting
important Asian photographers and was first to bring the work of
Daido Moriyama, Masahisa Fukase, Michiko Kon and Jungjin Lee to
the attention of American collectors.
In addition
to those artists, we have also shown the Asian photographs
of Taishi Hirokawa, Toshio Shibata, I-Jong Juan,
Shomei Tomatsu, Min Byung-Hun, Reagan Louie, Tsung-Woo
Han and Robert Welsh.
We are the exclusive
agents for Don Hong-Oai's greatly admired photographs from China
and Vietnam.
The second interest
of the gallery is botanical and images from nature. Photographs
are available by Imogen Cunningham, Brigitte Carnochan, Susana
Briselli and Sharon Beals. We also have work by Gay Outlaw,
Susie Fitzhugh, Don Normark, Robin Schwartz and others.
Tthe gallery is
also active in researching other photographic materials, especially
dog photographs from all periods, on behalf of its clients.
Gallery owner Ruth
Silverman is a former curator at the International Center of
Photography in New York and the author of several award-winning
photography books including The Dog:
100 Years of Classic Photographs (Chronicle Books, 2000)
and the forthcoming, The American Girl.
